NEW YEAR – NEW LOOK]]>http://www.wardrobetherapy.co.nz/single-post/2015/01/28/NEW-YEAR-%E2%80%93-NEW-LOOKhttp://www.wardrobetherapy.co.nz/single-post/2015/01/28/NEW-YEAR-%E2%80%93-NEW-LOOKWed, 28 Jan 2015 08:33:21 +0000
Happy New Year to you all.
With summer in full swing and the temperatures hotter than in previous years, the need to stay cool is ever-present on our minds. This means we need to wear less and expose more of our bodies to try to keep cool. This offers a great opportunity to relook at your wardrobe and put together BBQ, beach, and celebration attire ready to go. It is really common for women to leave shopping to the last minute and get a bit stressed out trying to find an outfit.
One important area to look at is fabrics as this will make a big difference to your comfort. Wearing too much polyester traps the body heat and causes perspiration and rashes. It’s a good time to make some decisions and adjustments to the clothing in our wardrobe to see if you can actually manage without the polyesters, if they do upset your equilibrium. Cotton is the best fabric to keep cool in the summer.
It is quite common for us to put on little a bit of weight over the Christmas/New Year period. There is so much tempting yummy food and wine around and it is very hard to resist. The next time you go to put those shorts on the zip won’t do up. Eek.
This is good time to assess your wardrobe find out what is comfortable and fits. Pack away anything Autumn/Winter, then concentrate on dividing up the Spring and Summer clothing into modules of “work”, “casual”, “dressy”, “beach” and putting outfits together. Try everything on, and then anything that is too small or too big goes in a bag. What you have left is what you can wear…this takes the stress out of too many choices right before you are heading out the door.
When you are trying on your different outfits see if there is a pile you never wear. Ask yourself, do I like this anymore or am I just missing something to wear it with? More often than not one stable piece can give those older pieces a new lease on life. If you are exhausted just reading this, don’t worry there is expert help at hand. Contact me for a wardrobe assessment and spend more time out there doing the things you love and feeling great!
